IWC Alois Kracher Trophy - Royal Tokaji 6 Puttonyos 2007
We are delighted to have been awarded the Alois Kracher Trophy for Champion Sweet Wine 2012. There were 235 medallists and commendations from all over the world in the sweet wine category and it is a huge honour for our Royal Tokaji Gold Label 2007 to have been awarded this prestigious trophy ahead of such competition.
The International Wine Challenge is billed as the World's Largest Wine Competition and its rigorous tasting process and exceptional judges are rightly respected throughout the world of wine.
The award was presented by Tim Atkin MW at the IWC Awards Dinner on Tuesday 11th September.
We had already been awarded Silver Medals for 3 of our wines (Late Harvest 2010, Single Vineyard Aszú Collection Betsek 2007 and 5 Puttonyos Aszú 2008) and a Gold Medal for, appropriately enough, the Gold Label 2007. This wine had also been awarded the Tokaji Trophy which we were presented with on arrival at the IWC awards dinner.
The event was held in London and we shared a table with our UK agent Bibendum who had themselves been nominated in 4 categories and went on to scoop 2 trophies.
In the words of the judges Gold Label 2007 is: "A modern interpretation of a traditional style, ripe stone fruit and cedar wood, vibrant prune, balanced botrytis flavours, firm and persistent acidity".
