19 February 2014

Restaurant group, D&D London, today announces a partnership with Royal Tokaji, acknowledged as one of the leading producers of the legendary Hungarian Aszú wine. The partnership will incorporate joint marketing activities to promote the sweet wine category and enable D&D restaurants to offer its guests access to limited release wines including rare vintages of single vineyard Royal Tokaji Aszú, in addition to unique customer events.

Royal Tokaji Essencia

As part of the partnership, Plateau Restaurant in Canary Wharf will become the first in the UK to offer the legendary Royal Tokaji wine, Essencia, served in a unique crystal spoon. This tasting experience has already proved popular at renowned U.S. restaurants, where over 30 restaurants are now offering this experience, The French Laundry was the first. It will be served in the main restaurant at Plateau with a spiced ginger bread and poached pear dessert (£13.50 for serving of Essencia and dessert.). The spoons are made from hand-blown Hungarian crystal and display the luscious luminosity of Royal Tokaji Essencia.

Royal Tokaji 2003 Essencia will become available in other D&D London restaurants over the coming months. Made from juice oozing from raisined Aszú berries in exceptional years, just over 2,000 bottles of the 2003 vintage were yielded for Royal Tokaji's customers around the world.

The next customer event will also be at Plateau – a tasting of Royal Tokaji wines with matching canapés from Head Chef Allan Pickett on Monday 17th March. Details of further events will be released over the coming months.
